Today I planted the onions that I started from seed (Copra). There aren't as many as I had hoped to have -- only twenty plants. I planted them in bunches of four every foot, ala Eliot Coleman.
My Lillian Austin rose is blooming, filling the patio with its wonderful scent.

Gloriosas
Today when I was at Terra Gardens I found they had gloriosa bulbs. So I bought one, to make a total of four for my two planter boxes. I planted them 2 inches deep, with the sprouting tip facing up.
The potatoes have all sprouted. And the strawberries have settled nicely in their new bed.
Tonight we had our first salad of baby kale and lettuce, with a little chervil thrown in.
I repotted the two citrus trees into new glazed pots. The look much nicer.

More Small Projects
I repotted the tomatoes and peppers (which I bought) into gallon pots. They are still in the cold frame.
The scarlet runner beans, which had gotten huge seemingly overnight, are now in the ground.
We put up the last short section of bamboo along the back fence. There's been a gap behind the fir tree for about six months.
The strawberries that were in the bed behind the garage are now in their own raised bed in the vegetable garden.
And finally I moved several dahlias from the back into the bed with the apple trees. I also readied the space for ten more tubers that I've ordered.

More Projects
We've spiffied up the area around our front entrance. We put up a short trellis, covered the ugly white drain pipe with a wooden box and then put a big pot with a hosta on top. We also put down some pea gravel against the house, and finally I moved a tiny hosta from the back yard to the front.
In the back yard I put down a row of concrete edging along the concrete path to replace some plastic edging, which didn't work well.
Today I also planted my 'On Deck' corn in a big plastic pot. Nine seeds total in the pot. We'll see...

Rain Barrels
Today we set up our new rain barrels. We have one in front (we may add another one there) and three in back. Now all we need is some rain.
Last Frost?
Yesterday morning we had frost on the deck, although the temperature on the roof was 35. With warm sunny weather predicted for the next week, this may be our last frost.

Berries Fertilized
Today I gave the blueberries and Beckyberries the first of their three doses of fertilizer. I gave each blueberry bush 1/4 c. of all-purpose fertilizer and each Beckyberry plant 1/3 c.
Yesterday I moved most of the tomato starts into 4" pots. They are now in the cold frame. A few of them have still not germinated.

Potatoes
Today I planted a bed of Yukon Gold potatoes. I amended the bed with 1 1/2 c. of bone meal and 1/2 c. of ground eggshells. I dug a trench, then used the bulb planter.
I got the seed potatoes from Territorial, 2 lbs. for $15.95. Earlier this week, when I was at the hardware store in Mt. Angel, I noticed I could have gotten them (not organic) for $.89 per lb.
I also started more pepper plants. None of the seeds from the first planting germinated. I think they may have been too wet.
