Beans #3

Today I planted the third crop of bush beans.  The second planting is too close to the first, so I increased the space to 14" and planted just two rows instead of three.

Both the green and the yellow zucchini plants have small fruit coming.

Peas

The snap peas are producing nicely.  The plants on the small metal trellis are just enough for the two of us.

Clematis

Three of the four clematis on the deck are blooming.

Fall Crucifers

I've started my fall crucifers in six packs.  I have one pack of Ruby Ball cabbage, one Snow Crown cauliflower, one Purple of Sicily cauliflower, one Hallmark broccoli, and two Harvest Blend sprouting broccoli.   I think by the time they are ready to set out, the bed with garlic and peas will be empty.   Next year I need to think ahead and hold off planting one bed in anticipation of the crucifers.

Berries Galore

We're  back from our trip and the berries are really coming.  While we were gone, the Marionberries

and Prime-Ark blackberries have started ripening.  They're both very tasty.  The Prime Ark is the everbearing one.

We have more raspberries than we can eat, and I've frozen enough, so I'm going to juice a bowl of them to freeze for later use.

The leaf miner battle has become interesting.  The chard is gorgeous and perfect under the netting.  But the miners have switched to the beets, and boy, have they made a mess.  Obviously next year I'll have to put nets over the beets, too, as well as spinach.

Beckyberries

Today we picked the first two ripe Beckyberries.  They are still my favorites.

We're about to leave for a week-long RV trip.  I hope we don't miss all of them.
